A Simple Ranking extends from a cast hand, where each finger wears a tiny puppet, painstakingly replicated through a slow, ritualistic process. What is usually cheap, disposable, and fleeting is given an unusual weight of attention. Each finger is ranked and awarded with a miniature medal, transforming it into a site of recognition.
The medals suggest permanence and value, yet they honor something temporary. In doing so, the sculpture questions what is worthy of recognition, positioning plastic as both trivial and enduring—a nod to what we so often overlook and what will outlast us.
